Healthprogram for PRA applies

According to SKK/AK no 2/2002 / SKK/CS no 2/2002 § 58 The genetic healthprogram Eyes.

Below you can read when registration prohibition prevails. NB! From Janyary 1 2003, you must make an eye examination with an eye specialist on both parents before mating and the certificate is not to be older than 12 months.
 

REGISTRATION PROHIBITION
  • For offspring from parents that has not been eye examined within a year prior to mating. Dog that has been ERG-examined in Sweden at 18 months of age or older does not need a new examination for PRA.
  • For offspring from parents with PRA (breeding prohibition for the dog itself)
  • For offspring from parents that have earlier produced progeny with PRA (breeding prohibiton for parent to PRA-dog)
  • For offspring from parents that are progeny of animals with PRA (breeding prohibition for the PRA-dogs all previous offspring)
Conclusion: Breeding prohibition apply on all dogs with PRA and known carriers. Known carriers are parents and progeny in the first generation from dog with PRA. Siblings from the same litter as dog with PRA shall not be used in breeding, since there is a danger that they too are carriers. One shall not double carriers of PRA on the mother- and fatherside in breeding.
